Mujib Rahman is working as a Senior Integrity Engineer at FortisBC and has over 34 years of geohazards and project management experience. At FortisBC, Mujib is responsible for planning and implementation of Geohazards Management Program, which is intended to prevent and/or mitigate failure incidents caused by all types of Geohazards impacting TP, IP, DP Pipeline Systems, and facilities. In line with company’s Integrity Management Program, and related Geohazards Management Framework, he also works as the Project Engineer for geohazards mitigation projects and is responsible for detailed investigations, hazard assessment, risk assessment, and ensuring risk mitigation of the select hazards sites. In addition, he’s responsible for developing and implementing Geohazards mitigation design of sustainment projects and providing construction oversight to both sustainment and major capital projects; his responsibility includes ensuring the design and construction meets relevant regulations, codes, company standards and System Integrity requirements and practices. In addition, he is responsible for reviewing, and providing approval of blasting applications in the vicinity of FortisBC gas assets.
Mujib has worked for Metro Vancouver as a Project Engineer; previously, he worked for Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd (at Highland Valley Copper Mine) as a Geotechnical Engineer and at AMEC-Earth and Environmental as Materials Consultant. He brings significant overseas experience, which includes: being a veteran in Corps of Engineers, Bangladesh Army, he held various command & staff position; led various multi-million dollar’s Nation Building projects, served in Military Engineering Service, planned and executed large and complex projects; was team lead for joint projects with the Corps of Engineers, US Army Pacific, and Bangladesh Army; worked in Kuwait Army in demining operation and disposal of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) in Kuwait after the Gulf War 1991.
Core Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, represent the association as its figurehead and ensure effective management of the association.

Oversee the functions of EC in fulfilling its responsibilities towards the governance of the association.

Preside over all EC meetings. In conjunction with VC Operations or VC Finance, sign deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts or other instructions authorized by the EC, except in cases where the signing and execution thereof shall be expressly delegated by the EC to some other agent of the association.

With approval from the EC, s/he will appoint Ad-Hoc Committees as necessary to further the association’s objectives, and may discontinue any such committee upon approval of the EC when its purpose has been served.

In conjunction with the Secretary, VC Operations and VC Finance, approve budget for events or workshops which may require funding from the association.

In collaboration with VC Finance, operate bank account and perform transactions.

In consultation with the EC, appoint the Election Commission prior to an AGM.

Issue press release with the approval of EC, Perform other duties related to the role.

Be accountable to the EC and general members.
Supporting Role:

Provide support in ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place for the effective management of the association.

Provide guidance and advice, act as a liaison among AC and EC.

Collaborate with other ECs in identifying needs and supporting their projects as well as furthering the goals of the association in leadership, service and representation.
