Constitution

1. The name of the Society shall be “Bangladeshi Engineers and Computer Science Professionals of BC (BECBC)” also referred to as “Association” herein after.

​

2. The association shall be a non-profit, non-political, non-religious voluntary organization of Engineering and Computer Science professionals of Bangladeshi Origin in British Columbia, who will organize educational, scientific, cultural, networking and charitable programs.

3. The purposes of this association are: 

  • To bring together and share ideas, technology, and experiences between engineering, Computer Science and other professionals of Bangladesh and British Columbia (BC).

  • To work towards the advancement of Bangladeshi Engineering and Computer Science professionals in BC.

  • To provide assistance in job search and career development for its members and affiliates.

  • To conduct seminars, trainings and other educational programs.

  • To provide mutual assistance and cooperation between the association and other non-political associations, societies and institutions.

  • To help develop feasibility studies of various engineering and technological concerns of Bangladesh.

  • To collaborate with public bodies and with other societies for the benefit of the Engineering and Computer Science professions as a whole.

  • To honor any individual/group who has made significant and outstanding contributions to the profession of Engineering, Computer Science and the Bangladeshi community in Canada, abroad and Bangladesh.

  • To carry out any other activities incidental to, or conducive of, the above objectives.

  • To help socialize among family members of engineers and computer science professionals in BC.

4. Notwithstanding Clause 3 of this constitution, all purposes shall be organized and operated exclusively on a non-profit basis. This provision is unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.​

5. No part of the net earnings or the assets of the association shall be used for the personal benefit of or be distributed to its members, officers, or other private persons, except that the association shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payment and distribution in the furtherance of the purpose set forth in Clause 3 thereof. This provision is unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.

6. The association shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on by Canadian Revenue Law. This provision is unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.

7. The association may make contributions to organizations that qualify as tax-exempt organizations under the Canadian Revenue Law or the corresponding provision of any future laws. This provision is unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.

8. Upon the winding-up or dissolution of the association, the elected officials shall, after paying or making provisions for the payment of all the liabilities of the association, including the remuneration of a liquidator, dispose of all the assets of the association exclusively for the purpose of the association, in such manner, or to such organizations organized exclusively for charitable, cultural, or scientific purposes in Canada, registered under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, or to the Province of British Columbia, whichever shall be designated by the Board of Directors. This clause is unalterable in accordance with the Society Act.
